The Belfast Stories team in partnership with Brink! are delighted to be able to offer tours of the Bank of Ireland and surrounding site as part of European Heritage Open Weekend 14-15 September 2024.

The project is at an important moment, a transitional time and space before building works begin on our site at the corner of Royal Avenue and North Street including the restoration of the Art Deco former Bank of Ireland building.

To celebrate European Open Heritage Day Belfast Stories have teamed up with Brink! to welcome visitors to the listed building and built heritage of the Bank of Ireland building and to the Brink! site on Union Street, to reflect on our connection to natural heritage with a tour of their city-centre garden and storytelling project – A Growing Story*. They will be demonstrating some traditional crafts, discussing how we can carry our heritage from the past in the present and how that can help us decide what we want for our future.

Together we have developed a joint programme specially for European Heritage Open Weekend that includes:

  • A tour of the bank building including understanding its unique features and its relationship to the local area.

  • An opportunity to experience the meanwhile use on the site in partnership with BRINK! and participate in the heritage project ‘A Growing Story’ through contributing to the Story Tree.

  • An update on the exciting plans for future of the building and surrounding site with details of the Belfast Stories project.

Total duration of each session is 75 minutes. Further details will be issued following booking.

*A Growing Story is a collaboration between Brink!, quarto and Grow NI and is funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund, the Brink! Site is funded by DAERA.
